Breaking Hair Disaster

Broken bits of hair covering your bathroom sink and floor? To preserve the condition of your troubled tresses appropriate use of conditioning can be your lifesaving beauty fix.  First you must understand your hair’s protein/moisture balance.  If you have too much protein your hair will break, if you have too much moisture (I know its sounds crazy but it’s true) your hair will break.  Assess this when hair is wet – if it feels rough and dry you need moisture, if it feels mushy and stretchy it needs protein.  Moisture-deprived hair can benefit from a protein-free deep conditioning treatment.  You can find the ingredients right in your own kitchen; try a mix of deeply conditioning ingredients like honey, yogurt, olive oil and coconut oil.  You may need to repeat this for a few weeks using heat to open the cuticle. Protein-deficient hair can be quickly remedied by use of a protein treatment.  Unless hair is extremely damaged usually one treatment will show instant results.
