Weak, Fragile Hair (feels mushy and stretchy when wet)

Top 10 Tips for a Breakage-free Hair Care Routine

  1. Assess wet hair. Is it rough and brittle or does it feel mushy and stretchy? If rough and brittle use a Moisturizing Deep Conditioner. If mushy and stretchy use Nutress Protein Pack (Normal or Colored Hair) as per package instructions
  2. Only use shampoo every other wash day unless you have a large amount of product buildup. Other times substitute your usual conditioner for the shampoo. When you do use shampoo add a tbs of oil to the mix for increased smoothness and ease of detangling.
  3. Do not scrunch the hair when shampooing, use smooth milking motions down the length of the hair and small circles on the scalp. Keep manipulation to a minimum.
  4. Transitioners should do targeted application of Nutress Protein Pack Conditioner to Line of Demarcation.
  5. For relaxed hair use Nutress Protein Pack Conditioner one week prior to and following every relaxer or color service. For extra strengthening use a Protein Pack during relaxer treatments after cream is rinsed and before neutralizing shampoo is applied.
  6. Once per month do an overnight deep condition or a 30 minute heated condition.
  7. Rinse conditioner with cold water (as cool as you can stand). This helps close and seal the cuticle to retain the nourishing elements of the conditioner. If hair still feels rough and ends appear frayed after conditioning, follow with a cool Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse (mix 2-4 tbs of ACV in a gallon of water). Then rinse hair in cool water.
  8. Blot hair with a cotton t-shirt or microfiber towel (not a terrycloth towel)
  9. Detangle hair starting from tips to roots with fingers. Follow with wide-toothed comb working carefully from tips to roots.
  10. Always tie hair up at night with a satin scarf or bonnet
